Felis is a genus of cats in the family Felidae.
   The genus is composed of these species:

  • Chinese Mountain Cat, Felis bieti
  • Jungle Cat, Felis chaus
  • Pallas's Cat, Felis manul
  • Sand Cat, Felis margarita
  • Black-footed Cat, Felis nigripes
  • Wildcat, Felis silvestris However, the understanding of Felidae phylogenetic relationships is changing rapidly. These are a few of the species that were, until recently, considered to be a part of this genus:
  • Caracal, Caracal caracal
  • Ocelot, Leopardus pardalis
  • Margay, Leopardus wiedii
  • Cougar, Puma concolor
